Walking AWAY From the Bible- Juanita Bynum
Juanita Bynum, the self-proclaimed Oprah Winfrey of the Christian world, lives an extragavagant lifestyle and why not? When you consider her “asking” fees for her appearances. Specifically, on two separate occasions, it is alleged that Dr. Bynum received approximately $25,000 and $125,000 respectively for speaking engagements in the Bahamas. It is further alleged that these amounts represented payment in accordance with the 50% of the offerings pre-arrangement….meaning that offerings of approximately $50,000 and $250,000 would have supposedly been raised by Dr. Bynum.
Is that biblical? “Let each one give as he purposes in HIS (not Juanita Bynum’s) heart, not grudingly or of necessity (by compulsion), for God loves a cheerful giver” 2 Corinthians 9:7.
“You have made profit from your neighbors by extortion and HAVE FORGOTTEN ME, says the Lord God” Ezekiel 22:12. I will have a connection to that verse in a moment. “YOU CANNOT SERVE GOD AND RICHES” Matthew 6:24. Apparently, Juanita Bynum, like Jim Bakker, has never read or studied that verse?!
On a TBN program, Bynum walked over some “anointed” prayer cloths and then asked the televison audience to send $1,000 dollars by way of a seed offering for one of those prayer cloths. That gambit has been used before by Rod Parsley and others of the Word of Faith Movement. Here now is the tie in to Ezekiel 22:12.
“When I (Apostle Paul) preach the gospel, I may present the gospel of Christ WITHOUT CHARGE, that I may NOTABUSE MY AUTHORITY IN THE GOSPEL” 1 Corinthians 9:18. I contend that by her own fund raising methods Bynum has GREATLY abused her authority in the gospel.
Does she have any authority in the gospel to begin with? “I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence” 1 Timothy 2:12. Why? “The woman being deceived fell into transgression” 1 Timothy 2:14. “As the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ” 2 Corinthians 11:3. Bynum admits that her prior sexual life was a deception as she admits that she had sex before and after church many times. Yes, that was in the past, but did you catch what was in the middle there? “Before and after CHURCH”. Was she a believer at that time too?
Bynum uses the Prosperity Gospel to ask people to give specific amounts of money using prophetic words and in return the people that give are promised financial blessings. That is the Seedy Faith gimmick that the Faith Movement always uses. If she patterns herself after Oprah Winfrey, that woman is one of the richest people in the United States today.
The Apostle Paul would beg to differ- “Not seeking MY OWN PROFIT but the profit of many, that they may be saved” 1 Corinthians 10:33. And what of the apostolic/prophetic office? The prophet John the Baptist ate locusts and wild honey (Matthew 3:4) while Elijah the prophet was fed by ravens at the Brook Cherith (1 Kings 17:3-4). A Diet of Worms, no doubt? As for an apostle, they both hungered and thirsted and were poorly clothed, not to mention homeless (1 Corinthians 4:11). No, Bynum the Prophetess doesn’t stack up too well there either! Lest I forget! Does Bynum dress herself in modest clothing and not with gold, pearls, or costly clothing (1 Timothy 2:9)?
It would seem that Bynum is walking away from the Bible yet all the while laughing all the way to the bank. Yes, has she abused “her” authority in the gospel?
And for all her “adoring” fans who desire to reject any Scripture that violates this prosperity queen, I have this to say to you- “Behold, you have REJECTED the word of the Lord, so what wisdom do you have?” Jeremiah 8:9.

dear Mr. Norris, what are some false prophcies has Dr. bynum made. if you can sumbmit exact quotes, time and place. its good to hav evidence when presenting an argument. thank you.
Wow, although I am not surprised by any of this, Juanita Bynum is only doing what she has been taught to do by her mentor(s). Being in Gospel Radio for 18 years, I have seen plenty!I’m not making any excuses for her because she is now reaping what she has planted in the ministry. “Ill crops”. Here again, Mrs. Bynum is not the only pastor out there begging for money on her broadcast. If you notice, they all beg for money be it on televsion, radio or and in service. And quiet as it is kept, some pastors even have the nerve to request insurance policies on and for their members. It appears that daily, God is exposing more and more false prophets and casting down demons from his “Church”
When I write a post about Bynum, whether it be on a forum or a blog, what truly breaks my heart is the multitude of people who go into a frenzy and charge…”Don’t you dare put your mouth on the prophetess!” My heart truly breaks for them.
Oh, the dirge caused by biblical ignorance and illiteracy!
NO fan of Juanita Bynum here…but when I see people yanking out scripture to justify gagging women in church, I have to speak up.
It’s really pretty amazing. The same people who will tell you that Jesus died for all our sins will, in the very next breath, tell you that women are not permitted to speak in church because of the Fall. Which, I thought, got taken care of by Jesus’ death on the cross.
The church, over the past two millennia, has really forgotten the teaching of Gal. 3:28 in its haste to make sure that men are over women, free are over slave, and certain nationalities are better than others. You see it over and over and over again through the centuries. It’s particularly irritating when this activity is accompanied by several thumps of the black leather-bound book for emphasis.
Jesus said nothing about women keeping their mouths shut. Go look and see.
Gotta tell ya…The flamboyancy just doesn’t gel with what I see in the Word of God. I just can’t stop hearing her say that writing with a Bic pen is beneath her and that she writes with a $5,000.00 pen to sign her million + dollar contracts. I could puke.
Wow, I was a big juanita bynum fan until last year I too am recently separated from my husband and went thru alot of mental abuse “BUT GOD”. The bible is true money is the root of all evil and fame makes you crave money even more even in the gospel arena(sad to say) i wish the best for her and I hope this money thing will get out o the gospel arena and people will get back to being all about “GOD”
