“Put on the large pot and boil stew for the sons of the prophets” 2 Kings 4:38How Much Poison Does It Take to Kill You?Some friends of mine were recently conversing with me about Rick Warren and the Purpose Driven Life, which is laced with psychology and verses taken out of context. One said, “Take what you like and reject what you don’t like”. He might have fit in well with the sons of the prophets. “One went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered from it a lap full of wild gourds, and came and sliced them into the pot of stew, THOUGH THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT THEY WERE”- 2 kINGS 4:39.
We can find a lot of that sliced kind of doctrine in the church today. Many such doctrines are sliced into their denominational pots, though they know not what they are. "Then they served it to the men to eat. Now it happened as they were eating the stew, that they cried out and said, O man of God, THERE IS DEATH IN THIS POT, and they could not eat it”- 2 Kings 4:40.
Did the sons of the prophet continue to eat the stew? Did some of them say, “A little poison won’t hurt you so go on, eat your stew!”These men knew there was death in that pot. They had no intention of continuing to feast on posion. They could discern what was in that pot. Can we say the same today? “So he said, Then bring some flour. And he put it into the pot and said, Serve it to the people that they may eat. And there was nothing harmful in the pot”- 2 Kings 4:41. The flour, representing the word of God, neuteralized the poison.Today we have many poisonious doctrines infiltrating the church but not many to discern that there IS poison in their pots.
Mike Peters of Indianapolis has poison in his congregational pot and finally some are beginning to discern that very thing. However, it is the leadership of that mysterious body that is pouring the poison into that pot and with their authorative means of leadership, they are the ones supposedly saying that the pot has good things to eat. Beware! “THE PUNISHMENT OF THE PROPHET SHALL BE THE SAME AS THE PUNISHMENT OF THE ONE WHO INQUIRED”- EZEKIEL 14:10.
“If the blind leads the blind both will fall into a ditch”- Matthew 15:14.
